Happening at Bellevue

Would you like to get 5 breakfast snacks, 5 lunches, and a 1.5 gallon of milk? On Friday, December 17th from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 18th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. you can go to any of the following locations and get two 5-Day meal packs for each student that attends Bellevue. You can go to any one of these locations: Henderson Middle School, Broad Rock Elementary, Cardinal Elementary, or Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School.

If you need support during the winter break please CLICK HERE for the "Winter Resource Guide for Families." There is contact information for food, housing, utilities, and mental health. You can also go to Help1RVA.org or dial 211 to get assistance.

Over winter break we want our Bellevue Dragons to spend 20 minutes EVERYDAY reading! Why????

Children who read 20 minutes a day are exposed to 1.8 million words in one school year.

They are also more likely to score in the 90th percentile on standardized testing.

There was also a study done on children reading 15 minutes a day that showed academic achievement and gains in regards to reading, but not as high as the students that read 20 minutes a day.

Students reading 5 minutes or less a day were more likely to fall behind their peers academically and needed intervention methods to bring them to grade level (statistics from kidskonnect.com).

Therefore, we want our Bellevue Dragons to READ! READ! READ!

We want our Bellevue family to enjoy their Winter Break and if you have some free time, please visit the Richmond Public Library! If you can't make it to one of their locations, please visit their website and check out an eBook! Their website address is https://rvalibrary.org/
