Our Dragons Celebrate Read Across America & Virginia Reads One Book: Charlotte’s Web

We are excited to celebrate Read Across America, March 2nd–6th, as we join schools across the Commonwealth in participating in Virginia Reads One Book (VAROB). This year’s featured story is the beloved classic, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White—a timeless tale of friendship, kindness, and the power of words.

Thanks to Virginia Reads One Book, every student will receive their own copy of Charlotte’s Web to enjoy through daily reading at school and at home. As we journey together through Wilbur and Charlotte’s story, we will bring the book to life with a week full of themed spirit days designed to celebrate reading and strengthen our school community.

Spirit Week Schedule

Monday, March 2 – Pink Out for Wilbur Day!
Kick off our VAROB celebration by wearing pink or farm-themed clothing in honor of everyone’s favorite pig, Wilbur.

Tuesday, March 3 – Cozy Up with a Good Book
Wear your comfy clothes as we embrace schoolwide Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) time and enjoy getting lost in a good story.

Wednesday, March 4 – Words Matter Wednesday
Charlotte reminded us that words have power! Wear a shirt with words or a positive message to celebrate the importance of language.

Thursday, March 5 – Barnyard Buddy Day
Bring a small stuffed animal in your bookbag to serve as your reading buddy during independent reading time. Every great reader deserves a great listener!

Friday, March 6 – Stronger Together: Spinning a Web of Readers!
Wear your House colors to show how each House helps strengthen our Bellevue reading community. Together, we are spinning a powerful web of readers!
