Happening at Bellevue

We are so excited to have a Girls on the Run team at Bellevue Elementary this Spring! Our season starts the week of March 6 - less than 3 weeks away! Sign your kid up for Girls on the Run Spring 2023! @GOTRRichmond leads fun, evidence-based programs that inspire girl empowerment by building confidence, kindness, and overall wellness. See a more joyful, healthy and confident girl after 10 weeks of team practices right here at her school!

Please look around and see if there are Bellevue Elementary Library Media Center books in your home. Inside the book there may be a stamp with the school name on it. On the spine it will have letters or numbers and on the back there would be a barcode in the upper right-hand side that has the name of the book on it. We would like to retrieve all of the books so that our inventory can be complete and we can order new books to replace lost books. Check closets, under the bed, and in the car. If your child attends daycare facilities, please ask them about books that are listed on your child's overdue book notice. Thank you!

You don't want to miss out this summer, so we would like all of our Bellevue Dragons to join the Richmond Public Library Summer Reading Program! This year's theme is, "Oceans of Possibilities." It begins on Saturday, June 4th and ends on August 6th. Please CLICK HERE for the flyer and every student that completes the program (completes 30 boxes on the calendar) will receive a great gift when they return in the fall.

EVERYDAY is a great day for reading! Why????

Children who read 20 minutes a day are exposed to 1.8 million words in one school year.

They are also more likely to score in the 90th percentile on standardized testing.

There was also a study done on children reading 15 minutes a day that showed academic achievement and gains in regards to reading, but not as high as the students that read 20 minutes a day.

Students reading 5 minutes or less a day were more likely to fall behind their peers academically and needed intervention methods to bring them to grade level (statistics from kidskonnect.com).

Therefore, we want our Bellevue Dragons to READ! READ! READ!
