Pamela Couther, Principal – Bellevue Elementary School
With 26 years of experience in education, Principal Couther worked for 5 years as assistant principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School before coming to Bellevue. Before that, she served in a variety of roles, including 15 years as a Math teacher, 4 years as a Math instructional coach, 2 years as a data analyst & testing coordinator, and 2 years as the Math instructional specialist for high school. Throughout her career, they have remained committed to fostering academic excellence, building meaningful relationships, and supporting the social and emotional growth of every student.
In 1998, Principal Couther obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hampton University. She completed her Masters in Mathematics at Virginia State University in 2015, and Ms. Couther completed an endorsement in Administration and Supervision with Longwood University in the summer of 2021.
Principal Couther believes that every child deserves a safe, welcoming, and engaging school where they are challenged to reach their full potential. She is passionate about collaborating with teachers to strengthen instruction, empowering students to become confident learners, and building strong partnerships with families to ensure student success.
Principal Couther looks forward to continuing the traditions that make Bellevue special while embracing opportunities for innovation and growth. She is dedicated to cultivating a positive school culture grounded in respect, collaboration, and high expectations for all.
Outside of school, Principal Couther enjoys spending time with family and friends, and, most importantly, her son, who will be off to college next month. She enjoys crafting, traveling, and trying new restaurants. She is excited to begin this new chapter and looks forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff at “The Castle on the Hill."
