AM Update
Good morning, Bellevue Community,
Huge kudos to Principal Couther, Bellevue teachers and staff, and central office support teams for getting Lucks Field up and running! I saw lots of smiling kiddos this morning as a result of their efforts.
Please see below for the latest updates.
Facilities Updates
Beginning this morning (September 1), our external contractors began a full-scale remediation of Bellevue. Air quality testing will take place once remediation is complete and will be shared with the Bellevue community as results become available.
-
Based on earlier staff reports, classroom remediation in rooms 306, 307, 308, and 309 took place over the weekend. Air quality testing was conducted the morning of Monday, August 31.
These initial air samples showed that mold levels in classrooms were not elevated above outdoor air quality levels, meaning those rooms are safe for reoccupancy. We will provide the official written results as soon as they are available.
Facilities team members continue to work to improve insulation in the building’s attic and at access points from room closets.
Educare Updates
-
Beginning today (Tuesday, September 1), Richmond City Parks & Recreation Department has graciously opened their doors to host our scholars at Lucks Field Community Center (1925 U St, Richmond, VA 23223).
Parents may drop off directly at Lucks Field Community Center beginning at 7:30 am, or students can utilize RPS-provided transportation (see the Transportation Updates section).
Attendance is not mandatory, and will not count against your scholar if they do not attend.
Outreach will continue for any families who were not reached yesterday about participation in Educare to ensure that we’re sufficiently able to plan for instruction, enrichment activities, and meals.
The daily schedule will focus on academic and enrichment activities led by Bellevue educators. We have a RPS nurse on-site to handle all student medication and health needs.

Meals:
Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily at Lucks Field, courtesy of the Richmond Ed Fund.
Transportation Updates
Transportation to Lucks Fields will follow existing routes, available here.
Buses will run their normal routes, stopping at Bellevue at 7:30 am to pick up any walkers, continuing on to Lucks Field.
Buses will depart from Lucks Field at 2:40 pm, stop at Bellevue to drop off walkers, and then proceed to drop off scholars via their normal routes.
After-school supervision will last until 5:00 pm, and will require parent pick-up, as no bus transportation past 2:40 pm will be provided.
Thank you for your patience, support, and partnership as remediation continues. We’ll follow up with an evening update at 5:30 p.m.
With great appreciation,
Jason
