Good afternoon, Bellevue Community,

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE UPDATES: Since air quality test results are not expected until later tonight, we must continue to err on the side of student and staff safety. As a result, we will continue providing educare at Lucks Field on Tuesday, September 8. We are cautiously optimistic that we’ll be able to return to the Bellevue building on Wednesday. 

Please continue reading for additional information and updates. 

FACILITY UPDATES:

  • Air-Quality Testing: Based on test results, 1 of the 3 rooms cleaned on Saturday is cleared for re-occupancy. The remaining 2 rooms returned results indicating slightly elevated spore levels compared with the outside-air sample.

    • Although the results showed a significant reduction in spore levels, the remaining 2 rooms are receiving additional cleaning and will be retested tomorrow, September 8.

    • Test results are attached below. 

  • Additional Testing: Air samples were collected today, September 7, from the 4 rooms that were cleaned and remediated on Sunday. 

    • Results are expected later tonight and will be shared when available. 

  • Remediation and Timeline: Our contracted partner is currently completing cleaning in the 3 rooms remaining from the original remediation schedule. Air sampling of those rooms, along with retesting of the 2 rooms receiving additional cleaning, is planned for tomorrow, September 8.

  • Air Quality and Humidity: Dehumidifiers and HEPA air scrubbers continue operating throughout the building to reduce relative humidity, inhibit mold and mildew growth, and continuously filter the air.


EDUCARE REMINDERS:

  • Parents may drop off directly at Lucks Field Community Center beginning at 7:30 am, or students can utilize RPS-provided transportation (see the Transportation Reminders section). 

  • Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided daily at Lucks Field, courtesy of the Richmond Ed Fund.

  • Attendance is not mandatory, and will not count against your scholar if they do not attend.

TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS: 

  • Transportation to Lucks Fields will continue to follow existing routes, available here. 

  • Buses will run their normal routes, stopping at Bellevue at 7:30 am to pick up any walkers, continuing on to Lucks Field.

  • Buses will depart from Lucks Field at 2:40 pm, stop at Bellevue to drop off walkers, and then proceed to drop off scholars via their normal routes. 

  • Bellevue Parks and Recreation will be held on-site at Lucks Field from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. 

    • Please remember that parent pick-up is required by 5:00 PM, as no late bus transportation is provided.

COMMUNICATION UPDATE: 

  • To keep you informed through the final stages of remediation and testing, we will resume our twice-daily updates at 10:30 am and 5:30 pm, beginning tomorrow (September 8). 

I know that a delayed return home to Bellevue was not the news everyone was hoping to hear, and it was not the news I wanted to deliver. I sincerely thank you for your ongoing patience, flexibility, and partnership as we work to ensure a safe environment for our scholars.
